Carlo III è salito al trono del Regno Unito nel 2022, dopo un lungo servizio come Principe del Galles. Nel corso del tempo egli ha sviluppato una concezione originale del ruolo del monarca in una società fortemente pluralistica. In particolare, si è interessato al problema della convivenza tra fedi, religiose e secolari, e all’importanza di queste per la società nel suo complesso. Lo studio indaga la genesi e le implicazioni di tali idee, che oggi guidano l’azione del sovrano, portandolo a reinterpreta in chiave inclusiva il ruolo di «Fidei Defensor» e a rimodulare gli stessi canoni comunicativi della Monarchia. La presente monografia scientifica propone agli studiosi dei rapporti tra diritto e religione l’analisi di un modello di rapporti tra istituzioni e comunità di fede che, pur se unico e non traducibile al di fuori del contesto britannico, costituisce tuttavia un utile e interessante termine di paragone per i modelli continentali di laicità dello Stato.

11 July 2025 – DiReSoM Panel at EUARE Annual Conference 2025

DiReSoM will hold a panel at the 8th EUARE Annual Conference at the University of Vienna, “Emergencies and Religious Law”. The panel is part of the activities of the PRIN project “Religion and Emergency Rules”, coordinated by Prof. Pierluigi Consorti, Full Professor of Law and Religion at the University of Pisa.

DiReSoM Paper “Geopolitics of the Conclave”

The paper titled Geopolitics of the conclave. The intertwining of politics and religion in a sacred rite was published in the journal Stato, Chiese e pluralismo confessionale. The author is Prof. Pierluigi Consorti, DiReSoM Coordinator, and the paper is the written text of the lecture held on May 6, 2025, at the University of Foggia at the invitation of Prof. Gabriele Fattori, for the students of the Ecclesiastical Law, Canon Law, and Religious Freedom and Security courses.

Prestigious International Award for DiReSoM Member Prof. Daniela Tarantino

Daniela Tarantino, Associate Professor at the University of Genoa and a member of the Executive Board of DiReSoM, has been honored with the prestigious “International Research Excellence Awards – Book of Award 2025” for her distinguished contribution to the field of social sciences, particularly in the area of law and religions. This achievement not only marks a significant milestone in her career but also led to her nomination for the second edition of the Global Research Awards 2025, where she was conferred the Certificate of Excellence in the social sciences.

Event in Milan on Multi-Faith Rooms

On June 11th, the event titled “Consulta lombarda interreligiosa, laicità e Stanze del Silenzio” Lombard Interreligious Council, laicità, and Multi Faith Rooms”) will be held at the Casa della Cultura in Milan. The event will feature the participation of Dr. Giuseppina Scala, Member of DiReSoM and Main Researcher for the DiReSoM Spin-off Project “Multi Faith Rooms.”

Conference “Religion and Emergency Rules. First point of a research”

DiReSoM’s 2025 begins with the conference of the PRIN Religion and Emergency Rules, whose PI is its coordinator Prof. Pierluigi Consorti and which sees many DiReSoM members involved. The conference “Religions and rules of emergency.” will take place on January 10 at the University of Pisa.
